One thing I always love to hear is my dad’s childhood stories. He would always tell me about places in his neighborhood and thus, I created a whole another Diyarbakır in my head. I’d always wanted to go there but I never got the chance. This year, thanks to my aunt, we got to see the beautiful city that is Diyarbakır and also Mardin.
Unfortunately, my dad’s neigborhood was totally demolished. It was heartbreaking to see. That whole area is forbidden to enter but thanks to my aunt, again, we got to went in there and see my dad’s school, the Armenian church and the infamous Paşa Hamamı of my childhood.
I had so much fun in Diyarbakır and I think it was the first time ever I actually felt a connection to anything.
This boy, Samet, saw my camera and he specifically asked me to take his photo.
Attention! Going in the pool is dangerous and forbidden. ok np
I also got to go inside Paşa Hamamı.
The Armenian church in the forbidden area.
Deylülzafaran Monastory. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
