In the beginning of December, we had a trip to Ostana in the province of Cuneo in Piemonte to analyze our project site. It’s an hour and a half away from Turin. After the analysis, we had a couple of hours to see the place for ourselves.
When we got out of the bus, we were welcomed by the incredible view of the Alps, especially Monte Viso.
Ostana is a really important case for us since it’s a comune that is getting repopulated. Apparently after the war, people started to move to France and other cities in Italy due to many different reasons.
With the help of Ostanesi that wanted to revive their home, they renewed their infrastructure thus making everything you need to live available. It’s become a case where you can clearly see how Architecture can change a place.
On their municipality website, you can find all the information you need regarding to transportation and accommodation if you would want to spend some time there. I know that a lot of people like it there for hiking but It’s also great if you’re looking for a great getaway with amazing community spirit.
A very poor self timer attempt but being there with my friends Ali and Mete was so fun. We also filmed a lot of stupid videos while trying to climb up the hills and trying not to die haha. Everytime I see Mete he still talks about the delicious apple cake he had there. I really regret not having one but that’s definitely a good excuse to go back.
Hope you enjoyed reading about our trip to Ostana!
